Demonstrators marched in South Africa’s Cape City this Friday in opposition to Uganda’s draconian anti-gay regulation put in place final week.

The proposed regulation, referred to as the Anti-Homosexuality Invoice 2023, is able to be despatched to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who’s going through calls from the United Nations and the United States to reject it.

“Colonisation was sufficient, apartheid was sufficient, we will’t take care of this. Human beings have to be free from brainwashing methods. They have to be free from unjust legal guidelines. So we’re saying as South Africans cease the anti-homosexual invoice”, stated Creator and activist, Siza Nobuhle, who participated within the march.

Human rights activist from ONG Safe Places International, Nyasha Masi Zhakata, added:

“What is going on proper now in Uganda is whereby we have now our folks imprisoned in their very own homes due to their sexuality. It angers me, it will get me so offended, it will get me so annoyed”, she shouted.

In response to activists, if president Museveni provides his assent, anybody who engages in same-sex exercise may face life imprisonment whereas repeat offenders could possibly be sentenced to dying.
