Nigeria’s major presidential candidates signal “peace” deal

4 prime Nigerian presidential candidates signed a “peace” deal on Wednesday forward of presidential elections on Saturday.

The one candidate absent from the ceremony was Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the ruling celebration All Progressives Congress (APC) who was represented by his vice presidential working mate.

The pinnacle of the Nigerian electoral fee confirmed the organisation is prepared to carry the election.

“The signing of the Peace Accord as we speak comes at a crucial second within the electoral calendar. Marketing campaign for Presidential and Nationwide Meeting elections ends at midnight tomorrow Thursday twenty third February 2023. Election will maintain on Saturday this week. INEC is prepared”, mentioned the chairman of the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee,Mahmood Yakubu.

Previous presidential elections in Nigeria have been marred by violence, fraud, court docket challenges and an increase in ethnic tensions.

The peace deal is a personal initiative of non secular, conventional and opinion leaders who urged candidates to give attention to points and steer away from incitement to violence.

In response to analysts, the election race shall be shut with third celebration candidate Peter Obi difficult the standard dominance of the ruling APC and major opposition PDP.
