Namibian jail authorities have banned recruitment of individuals with seen tattoos as a part of efforts to guard prisons’ picture, an area newspaper reports.
This measure is being taken to safeguard the picture of the prisons, as there have been considerations that sure tattoos worn by jail officers could also be linked to prison gangs, in accordance with the Namibian Solar.
The Namibia Correctional Companies (NCS) commissioner-general, Raphael Hamunyela, stated seen tattoos weren’t a superb reflection of the service.
He stated the nation’s recruitment coverage and the code of conduct could be amended to make sure that in future no individual with seen tattoos is recruited into the NCS.
“New tattoos represent a disciplinary offence,” Mr Hamunyela was quoted as saying.
The names of correctional officers bearing tattoos will subsequently even be taken for record-keeping.
