Before the Christmas holidays, President Akufo-Addo entreated Ghanaians not to patronize large gatherings due to the spike in Covid-19 cases but it appears his able Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu did not listen nor watch the president’s address.
On Monday, Mr Amewu organized a concert to celebrate his unprecedented victory in the just-ended elections. The NPP candidate took the Hohoe constituency seat away from NDC, winning by an appreciable margin.

It is the first time the seat has gone to the NPP but there is a current injunction secured by the NDC to stop the Electoral Commission from gazetting Amewu as the winner. However, he continues to celebrate.
Amewu’s concert attracted a large crowd, making nonsense of the president’s message. He was spotted also dancing on stage while Shatta Wale was performing.
Over 300 people have died of Covid-19 since the first case was recorded in March.
